Rape affects the mind, body, and soul of a person deeper than one can imagine, and must be taken more seriously. Many victims feel afraid to report rape because they are terrified of being judged by people, labeled by society, or even harmed by their rapists. Also, the media distorts the idea of rape. Many of the jokes people make and the slang society uses across social media reflect rape and rape culture. Although, not only do the people disregard rape, the justice system does not take it seriously either, hurting victims even more. Those called not to judge are often the biggest culprits of this when looking at what people are wearing. It has been said in multiple accounts that the victim was, â€Å"asking for it because of what they were wearing.† Also, rape whistles and other objects alike are taken as a joke in the media, whereas on college campuses or everyday life it can be the matter of life or death for a victim. It does not matter what one is wearing, who they are around, or what their reputation is; nobody deserves to be raped. The future generation should focus on forming a society that does not make a joke out of rape, but disregards any jokes related to rape. Finally, even the justice system is not doing enough to help victims of rape.
